What is the C-22 Bill Update?
The CDB Act is now a law but the payments distribution has not started as of now. This benefit has been approved and the Act is now in force and soon the regulations will come into force on 15th May, 2025. The Government has now finalised regulations including monthly payment amounts and more. This benefit eligibility will be started in June 2025 and the first payment will be rolled out in July 2025. The monthly rate as of now, has decided to be $200 which means for the period July 2025 – June 2026, the annual payment will be $2400.

- The applicant should be a Canadian resident for Income Tax Act purposes.
- The applicant must have Disability Tax Credit approval.
- The applicant should be aged 18 or 18+ and under 64 or 64 years.
- The applicant should file the tax return with CRA for the past tax year. To get payment for the period July 2025 – June 2026, the resident needs to file a 2025 tax year return.
- The applicant can hold a status of Canadian citizen, or someone who is registered under Indian Act or a protected person or someone who is entitled to register under Indian Act or a permanent resident or a temporary resident who for the previous 18 months has resided in Canada.
