This emphasises the importance of feminine power which manifests the distinct qualities such as courage, peace, knowledge, love. Fasting during the Navratri is the common tradition which is aimed at detoxifying the body and soul. Shardiya Navratri 2024 specifically Shardiya Navratri will begin on third October this year and will end on eleventh October this year. The Vijayadashami falls on this tenth day of the festival which spans nine nights and ten days. Devotees worship the nine aspects of diva Durga during this season and doing rituals in order to obtain her blessing. The significant ceremony that welcomes in Navratri is the Kalash Sthapana. Navratri 2024 Day Wise Importance & Pooja Vidhi

Day 1 Goddess Durga First Aspect – Shailaputri

The devotees worship the daughter of mountains on the first day. This represents Strength and Resolve. The colour for thisday is Yellow. On this day the Ghatasthapana is performed. A Kalash filled with water is placed with coconut and mango leaves are offered to the Goddess Durga.

Day 2 Goddess Durga Second Name – Brahmacharini

This Goddess symbolises devotion and penance. The colour for this day is Green. The devotees perform pooja with offerings such as pure ghee. Chanting of Om Devi Brahmacharini Namah mantra is encouraged.

Day 3 Goddess Durga Third Aspect – Chandraghanta

This Goddess represents Courage and bravery. The Color for this day is Grey. The Goddess is adorned with red flowers and Jasmine. The recitation of Chandraghanta Stotra is recommended.

Day 4 Goddess Durga Fourth Form – Khushmanda

This Goddess is believed to have created the universe. The Color for this day is Orange. The offerings of malpua are made to please the Goddess. Special Chanting of Om Devi Kushmanda Yai Namaha is Performed to invoke her blessings.

Day 5 Goddess Durga Fifth Form – Skandamata

This Goddess is the Mother of Lord Kartikeya which represents motherhood and protection. This day color is White. The devotees offer bananas. The chanting of Om Devi Skandamatayai Namah is recommended.

Day 6 Goddess Durga Sixth Aspect – Katyayani

This Goddess represents the strength and power which is invoked for overcoming challenges. The colour for this day is Red. The recitation of Katyayani Mantra for the removal of obstacles in marriage is common.

Day 7 Goddess Durga Seventh Form – Kaalratri

This Goddess is the fierce form of Durga representing the destruction of evil and darkness. The colour for this day is blue. The Goddess is offered Jaggery and black sesame seeds to remove the negative influences. Chanting of Om Devi Kaalratryai Namah to invoke her fierce form is performed.

Day 8 Goddess Durga Eighth Name – Maha Gauri

This Goddess is the symbol of Purity and calmness. The colour for this day is Pink. Chanting of Mahagauri Stotra and offering white flowers to the Goddess is recommended.

Day 9 Goddess Durga Ninth Aspect – Siddhidatri

This Goddess blesses devotees with knowledge, wisdom and fulfilment of all desires. The colour for this day is purple. The recitation of Siddhidatri stotra is recommended.
